To provide a portable charger which can make charging unconsciously when walking with it.

In order to utilize walking motion effectively, a pendulum 10 performing linear up/down reciprocal motion is disposed in the housing 2 of the portable charger. In order to achieve continuous up/down motion of the pendulum 10, the pendulum 10 is urged by a resilient member 12. At the time of walking, a rolling part 17 under a state of abutting against the pendulum 10 continues rotation and, as a result, a generator 16 is driven continuously through an input shaft 16a. So long as the pendulum 10 continues up/down motion, a specified power is supplied continuously to a charging section 21 through a rectifier circuit 20. In other words, efficient charging operation can be carried out unconsciously utilizing periodic up/down motion effectively at the time of walking. A charging section 21 is full charged unconsciously when the charger 1 is carried constantly at the time of outing and charging of an apparatus (e.g. a portable telephone or a portable MD player) can be started quickly at a required time and a required place.
