The terminal equipment used in a system for performing sales processing with a credit card is provided with a portable handy device 300 and a base unit to set this handy device 300. The handy device 300 is equipped with a card reader part 301, a keyboard part 302, a printer part 304, etc., so that the printing-out of a sales slit and the sales processing or the like are performed by the handy device 300 itself. Then, in the case of the sales processing accompanying with a reference action, by setting the handy device 300 to the base unit, a reference to a center is performed via the base unit or the reference to the center is performed from the handy device 300 also via a portable telephone. Then, by setting the handy device 300 to the base unit, sales data is transferred to the base unit via a non-contact communication part 311 and the sales data is transmitted to the center via a telephone line or the like from the base unit.
