To provide a portable cutter capable of enhancing a working efficiency and also downsizing the cutter.
The portable cutter includes: a housing 2; a cutting blade 3; a saw cover 4 for covering nearly a half of the outer circumference of the cutting blade; a base 6 abutting on a workpiece; and a projection change mechanism by which a projecting quantity of the cutting blade from the base can be changed. The projection change mechanism is provided with: a link 7 which is an adjusting guide part extended from the base to the rotating direction of the saw cover; and a transfer control part 5 which controls transfer of the adjusting guide part relative to the saw cover. The portion of the adjusting guide part situated opposite to the base side from the transfer control part is arranged on the outside of the saw cover.
