To provide a portable device with a camera and a camera control method which are capable of controlling operation of the camera as requested by the user.
The portable device with a camera capable of controlling operation of the camera comprises: orientation detection means for detecting the orientation of the portable device with a camera; and control means for controlling the camera on the basis of the result of the detection by the orientation detection means.
