Abstract:

To provide a high-security portable electronic device, a terminal device, and an authentication system, and an authentication method therefor.

When receiving a random number request command from the terminal device 13 for processing the portable electronic device 11, the portable electronic device 11 generates a random number and transmits the generated random number to the terminal device 13. The portable electronic device 11 and the terminal device 13 select one of a plurality of encryption keys stored in advance based on the random number, and mutually perform authentication using the selected encryption key.
