To protect data by preventing a portable electronic equipment from being used readily by a third person, and to prevent any data in the equipment from being erased, altered or leaked, by attaching a security mechanism to the display part and body of the equipment.

This portable electronic equipment is provided with a body 2, a display part 1 mounted via a hinge mechanism on the body 2 freely openably, and a security mechanism (a dial type key 3, a lock button 4, and a hook 5) for locking the display part 1 in a closed state, and for permitting the setting of the display part 1 in an opened state by releasing the lock. Thus, it is possible to prevent the portable electronic equipment from being used by a third person by prohibiting the third person from opening and closing the display part 1, thereby protecting the data. In this case, a dial type key 3 or a normal key, consisting of a key and a key hole, is available for the security mechanism.
