Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a portable navigation system which allows easy azimuth identification.
CONSTITUTION: A map drawing part 28, according to azimuth of device detected by a azimuth sensor 40, draws map drawing data 243 and character data 244, etc., of a map information storing part 24 on a display 12 as map screen conforming to actual azimuth. The characters in a drawn map, according to character drawing mode selected by an operator, are drawn with constant orientation against actual azimuth (for example, North), or drawn with constant orientation against the display 12.
