To obtain a packaging material that is used to package a food container, such as kamameshi (a box lunch of rice contained in a china cooking pot) sold on a station platform, to make it portable, and allows quickly, simply packaging the food container with an improved efficiency, by a method wherein left and right side panels with hand holes are continuously extended from both sides of a holding plate with an insert hole to accommodate the lower part of the food container.
A holding plate B is made of cardboard and an insert hole 4 having the same shape as the horizontal cross section of a container is formed in the middle. Right and left rise panels 5 are provided outside the insert hole 4, and semicircular cuts 6a are made at positions on the rise panels 5 which become level with the upside of a lid when the rise panels 5 are bent vertically, and opened outward to form insert holes where a pair of chopsticks can be inserted. The rise panels 5 of the holding panel B have U-shaped cuts 7a in the middle of outer flaps 8 that overlap each other when the rise panels 5 are pulled together toward the center' and tire cuts 7a are bent inward to form hand holes.
