In the case that it is determined by a reception state determining means 12 that the state of reception of GPS radio waves at a GPS receiver 10 is faulty, the number of steps of a user is computed on the basis of a travel signal to indicate the walking or traveling of a user created at a travel detecting means 11 and a timing signal created at a measurement instructing means 19, and stride data to indicate the length of a step of the user is acquired from a stride storage means 17. The distance traveled by the user is computed on the basis of the computed number of steps and acquired stride data.
