PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable speedometer and rangefinder which presents the influence degree due to a global positioning system(GPS) positioning error of the average movement speed and the movement distance of a user measured by a GPS receiver.
SOLUTION: In this rangefinder and speedometer, an average movement-speed computing means 13 computes the average movement speed of a user on the basis of a movement speed which is computed in a movement-speed computing means 12, a measuring and evaluation means 15 evaluates whether a change within a prescribed time in the average movement speed computed in the avarage movement-speed computing means 13 is within a prescribed amplitude range or not, and its evaluated result is displayed on a display means 16. As a result, it is possible to judge whether a computed movement distance and the computed average movement speed are subjected largely to the influence of a GPS positioning error or not.
