The portable shopping bag has a baglike trunk 10 with the bottom (11) and an open top 13 and is hangingly carried. The trunk 10 is provided with a bellows-shaped, vertically stretchable/contractible part 21, which is provided with a tentatively retaining means capable of retaining and releasing adjoining sides (e.g., sides 23a and 23b) with at least one folded-back and middle part 22 of the part 21 interposed between them. The tentatively retaining means consists of a hook-and-loop fastener (31A and 31B).
