PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal in which a digital camera function is prevented from being stopped before a user performs imaging even if the user takes time to operate the digital camera function of the portable terminal, a camera control program and a camera control method.SOLUTION: On the basis of captured image data outputted from a camera 36, a numerical value indicating brightness of an image is calculated from the captured image data and in the case where the numerical value is smaller than a predetermined value, it is determined that brightness of a preview image is low. A determination of whether an attitude of a mobile phone 10 is substantially horizontal is based on an angle outputted by an attitude sensor 66. In the case where the angle detected by the attitude sensor is smaller than a first threshold, it is determined that the attitude of the mobile phone 10 is substantially horizontal. In the case where a subject is not imaged, the brightness of the preview image is low and it is determined that the attitude of the mobile phone is substantially horizontal, the camera is powered off and the camera function ends.
