To provide a portable terminal capable of measuring an object by weight and a method for measuring the object by weight by the portable terminal.
The portable terminal of the present invention includes: a resistance film touch panel having an upper-layer transparent conductive thin film and a lower-layer transparent conductive thin film which are mutually opposed; a gravity sensitive module for detecting the gravity direction of an object and calculating an angle between the resistance film touch panel and the gravity direction of the object; a detection module for detecting a contact resistance value of a contact point between the upper-layer transparent conductive thin film and the lower-layer transparent conductive thin film in the resistance film touch panel; a calculation module for calculating the weight of the object placed on the resistance film touch panel, based on the contact resistance value of the contact point and the angle between the resistance film touch panel and the gravity direction of the object; and a numerical value display module for displaying the weight of the object on the resistance film touch panel. The present invention also provides a method for measuring the object by weight by the portable terminal.
