To provide a portable terminal for making key operating pleasant by improving convenience by enabling a user to arbitrarily set a confirmation tone and sounding the confirmation tone different from the other portable terminal so as to easily distinguish it in spite of problems the confirmation tone of the conventional portable terminal at the time of keying is similar, it is difficult and inconvenient to distinguish the other portable terminal and the present portable terminal at a congested place and the confirmation tone is uniform and lacked in interest.

Concerning this portable terminal, a sound source data part 31 is provided with a plurality of sound source data for sounding the confirmation tones and at the time of keying, a control part 2 reads the confirmation tone preset to a confirmation tone setting part 32. When the confirmation tone is an ordinary tone, an ordinary tone sounding instruction is outputted to a tone generator 8 and when the set confirmation tone is an effective tone or original tone, the correspondent sound source data are read from the sound source data part 31 and outputted to a sound source generator 10.
