PURPOSE: To provide a portable wire rope cutter which ensures sufficient cutting force with screw driving even by operating a handle at a relatively small force, by mounting a cutter part onto at least either of the end of a screw rod or one end of a frame body.

CONSTITUTION: A wire rope is disposed perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction of a frame body 1 to be held by a holding part 3. When a worker rotates a handle body 7, a threaded rod 4 is screwed in the one end of the frame body 1, so that the threaded rod 4 is driven to the other end side of the frame body 1. As a result, although the threaded rod 4 rotates, it approaches a stationary side cutter part 9 along a guide groove 8a with a movable element 5 and a movable side cutter part 6 not rotating, and the sharp end 6 of the movable side cutter part 6 is brought into contact with the wire rope. By rotating the threaded rod 4, the wire rope is divided into two with the sharp end 6a and sheared at the movable side cutter part 6 and the stationary side cutter part 9.
