To provide a portal press frame which does not cause strength reduction and on which twisting does not act even in a case of a press with a large capacity.
The portal press frame is composed of a crown C, beds B, aplites U, and tie rods T for combining them each other. The crown C is a rectangular box structure including a pair of front and rear long side plates 1 that are long in a lateral direction and a pair of left and right short side plates 2 connected with both the ends of the pair of the long side plates 1. Rod insertion boxes 10 through which the respective tie rods T pass are arranged at the outside in the lateral direction at the four corners of the crown C. The axial core of the tie rod T that passes through the rod insertion box 10 is positioned at the extended line of the long side plate 1. A top plate 3 is fixed to the upper surface of the pair of front and rear long side plates 1, 1 and the pair of left and right short side plates 2, 2 and a bottom plate 4 is fixed to the lower surface of them. The tie rods T are installed at the nearest positions of the long side plates 1 which control the rigidity and strength of the crown C, so that a force is smoothly transmitted and the strength reduction of the crown C is not caused.
