Abstract:
PURPOSE:To precisely detect positions of edge parts at high speed in the manner of using video cameras with a limited detection range by detecting a movement up to near the edge parts of a band-shaped object and its position with the movement and the position of mounts, and detecting the relative position with the video cameras. CONSTITUTION:The mounts 3a,3b are moved in accordance with a width of the band-shaped object 2 and the edge parts of the band-shaped object 2 are picked up by the video cameras 4a,4b. By a relative position detector 6, the relative positions of the edge parts of the band-shaped object 2 which are being displayed with the video cameras 4a,4b are calculated in the manner of receiving the signals from the video cameras 4a,4b. On the other hand, the positions of the mounts are detected by a position detector 7. By an absolute position detector 10, the absolute positions of the edge parts of the band-shaped object 2 are calculated in the manner or receiving the signals from the relative position detector 6 and the position detector 7. With this arrangement, the edge positions of the band-shaped object with a certain width are detected easily and precisely within a specified wide range.
