Abstract:

To provide a position detector capable of constituting a position detection duplexed system of one object to be detected, and being miniaturized.

The position detector 1 includes a magnet 20 which moves along first to third movement lines y1, y2, x according to the operation of a shift lever 3, a first MR circuit 11 separated by d1with respect to the first movement line y1, a second MR circuit 12 arranged immediately below the first movement line y1, a third MR circuit 13 arranged immediately below the second movement line y2, a fourth MR circuit 14 separated by d1at the opposite side to the second MR circuit 12 with respect to the second movement line y2, and a position determination part 40. The position determination part 40 determines the position of the magnet 20 on the first movement line y1, on the basis of the outputs of the first and third MR circuits 11, 13, and determines the position of the magnet 20 on the second movement line y2, on the basis of the outputs of the second and fourth MR circuits 12, 14. Consequently, the position detection of the duplexed system can be performed by one magnet.
