PURPOSE: To obtain a compact and light position indicating device at a low cost, with which a commercial map can be utilized and the confirmation of position is facilitated, by providing each means for azimuth measuring displaying, inputting and commanding position coordinates.

CONSTITUTION: A power source 23 of a position indicating device is turned on to perform the measurement at points of triangulation or the like. A reference key 24 is pushed to perform the positioning of a transparent sheet 16 and a map 17. A scale corresponding to the map 17 is selected from a displayed faceplate, and the corresponding number is input. One point as a reference point 19 for the positioning with the map 17 is selected for input among intersections 18 of matrix lines drawn on the sheet 16. The sheet 16 and the map 17 are overlapped with each other so that the reference position 19 and the intersection 18 coincide with each other. Thereafter, per each time that the new position information is obtained from a GPS position measuring device 21, a relative position thereof from the reference position is computed and a point is displayed on the faceplate. Position can be confirmed easily by comparing the displayed faceplate with the map 17, which is overlapped with the sheet 16.
