PURPOSE: To realize exact position making of AE source, by preliminarily collecting propagation characteristic data of a structure with a false acoustic emission AE source, and correcting the AE signal detected by sensors.
CONSTITUTION: In the monitoring range of a structure 1, sensors 2 to 5 are disposed, and the damping characteristic of AE signal is obtained by means of a false AE signal source 7. The ratio of the maximum amplitude MA with respect to each position 71 to 73 of the false AE source to the maximum amplitude MA' of sensors 2 to 5 expected when measuring the AE is obtained from each set of data, and the relative data of the maximum amplitude MA to the sound velocity MV at the time of maximum amplitude is obtained. Then, repeatedly correcting the marking point presumed on the basis of data, the precision of AE source marking may be enhanced.
