To provide a position measurement method for a cutting blade by which a position of the cutting blade is highly accurately measured.
The cutting blade is mounted to a rotary indexing device (S1). A reference face of the cutting blade almost parallel to the center axis of the cutting blade is made horizontal (S2). A position at the outer peripheral part of the reference face of the cutting blade is measured as a first measuring point by a probe for position measurement (S3). The reference face of the cutting blade is made vertical by rotating the cutting blade about the center axis by 90 degrees with the rotary indexing device (S4). A position at the outer peripheral part of the reference face of the cutting blade is measured again as a second measuring point by the probe for position measurement (S5). A position of the vertex of a right-angled isosceles triangle, in which a line segment connecting the first/second measuring points is made as the hypotenuse, is calculated (S6). Consequently, the actual rotation center of the cutting blade is indexed.
