To provide a position setting method of a beam type safety device and its setting equipment capable of securing an appropriate safety distance in accordance with sizes of dies and also omitting covers of openings located in left and right sides.

A beam projecting from projectors 7a and 7c located in the vicinity of a back end of an opening 10 of the left and right side frames in a press machine 1 is reflected by a pair of mirror units 20 and 20 respectively arranged in a state freely moving forward and backward in front of the left and right side frames. Then, a beam curtain is formed in the front and both the sides of the press machine 1 so that the beam is received by beam receivers 7b and 7d arranged in the vicinity of the back end of the above-described opening 10. A pair of the above-described mirror units 20 and 20 is movably arranged so as to form the beam curtain between a pair of the mirror units 20 and 20 in a position securing the safety distance from the pinch point 8 of respective dies.
