PURPOSE: To simplify the input of positional information on a destination or a present position and to enhance the operability of an apparatus.

CONSTITUTION: A user operates an input device 1, and the navigation request of a road guidance operation is outputted to a main control part 3. Then, the user who has seen the request operates the input device 1, and information on a present position is inputted to an MPU 31. After that, the MPU 31 outputs address data in an address notebook, and a screen which requests the user to input positional information on a destination is displayed on a display device 7. The user searches address data on the destination. When the corresponding address data is found, the data is designated by the input device 1. The MPU 31 takes into the designated address data as the positional information on the destination, map data which has been loaded in a RAM 32 from an external storage device 4 is collated with positional information on the destination and with that on the present position, and a map which indicates a route up to the destination is displayed on the display device 7.
