In a method for positioning a first member and a second member and connecting the two members, the second member is held in relation to the first member so as to be movable in a first direction and a second direction, and when first and second position signals of the second member are detected by the movement of the second member in the first direction, using one of signal positions as a datum point, the second member is moved in the second direction, and when the other position detection signal is detected, at a position specified based on the other position detection signal, the second member is connected to the first member.
