PURPOSE: To excellently perform positioning operation by moving a positioning guide on a travel rail according to temperature variation.
CONSTITUTION: This device is equipped with the positioning guide 20 which is provided movably on the travel rail 3 for a conveyance device 5, a holding mechanism which is positioned along the positioning guide 20, a driving mechanism 36 which moves the positioning guide 20, a displacement sensor 32 which detects the quantity of displacement of the travel rail 3 from a praviously set reference position, a sequencer 49 which controls the driving mechanism 36 on the basis of the detection data of the displacement sensor 32, and a controller 50. The driving mechanism 36 is controlled on the basis of the displacement quantity of the travel rail 3 detected by the displacement sensor 32, so even if the travel rail expands or contracts owing to temperature variation, the position of the positioning guide 20 can surely and easily be set to a proper position and then a work can be positioned with high precision.
