To provide a positioning and holding device of a workpiece which prevents increase of the size of the positioning and holding device of the workpiece and increase of equipment investment cost by allowing a locating device and a clamping device to be integrally forwardly and backwardly moved with one drive device and positioning and holding the workpiece having a locating hole, and also to provide a positioning and holding method of the workpiece.

The positioning and holding device 50 of the workpiece allows the rod 720 of the drive device 700 to move from a backward movement limit position P2 toward a forward movement limit position and allows the locating device and the clamping device 400 to be integrally forwardly moved to a steel sheet 100 till the forward movement of the locating device 200 is regulated by a regulation means 350. The positioning and holding device 50 allows the clamping device to forwardly move to the steel sheet till the rod reaches the forward movement limit position by making the regulation of the forward movement of the locating device by a regulating means as a trigger.
