To provide a positioning terminal and method, capable of positioning a location without restriction of the function of telephone call or the like, and also capable of saving power in positioning.
The positioning terminal includes: an ATF application execution part 11 which works in background by application described in a native code directly executable by a CPU and outputs a positioning command; a GPS signal receiving unit 13 for receiving a GPS signal from a GPS satellite 2 on the basis of the positioning command; a GPS application execution part 12 for calculating its own current location on the basis of the received GPS signal; and a communication part 14 for transmitting location information to a server device 3 which provides services making use of the location information.
