Title:
POSITIVE ELECTRODE MATERIAL FOR METAL HALOGEN BATTERY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH03187158
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve a charge/discharge over-voltage of a metal halogen battery and its halogen holding force by using active carbon fibers where ion exchange fibers and polyolefin-based resin fibers are mixed and dispersed formed into a sheet by thermocompression bonding for a metal halogen battery positive electrode material.

CONSTITUTION: A positive electrode material is formed into a sheet by thermocompression bonding consisting of active carbon fibers where ion exchange fibers and polyolefine-based resin fibers are mixed and dispersed. For the ion exchange fibers, any material can be used as far as it has a function of holding Br- ions for an active material such as a cation exchange fibers. Br2 produced at the time of charging can thus be held in the electrode surface, and a discharge potential and a discharging time can be increased. In addition, transitional pores formed of the ion exchange fibers and polypropylene fibers act effectively in electrolyte to decrease the over-voltage property for charging and discharging.
