Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve sharpness while edge tip strength necessary for the respective parts of main cutting edges is being secured, by forming a flank relief that is connected to main cutting edges, into a multi-step surface, changing the edge tip angle of a chip properly and step by step from the tip side of a tool main body to its base end side.
CONSTITUTION: A chip 20 furnished to a rotary cutting tool attachably/detachably is formed into a rhombic flat plate shape by plan view, and possesses a lower surface 24 that becomes a seating surface of the fitting seat of a tool main body; an upper surface 28; and side surface 30, 32 inclined to these, and has a chip fitting hole 34 formed in its center part. The upper surface 28 possesses, with ridge lines 36 as borders, a flat surface 38 in parallel with the lower surface 24 and flat surfaces 40 that are connected to both sides of the flat surface 38 and are inclined upward, and makes angled portions 42 formed, with ridge line parts 36 as borders, breakers. Thus, the upper surface 28 is made to be a rake face, and at the same time main cutting edges 44 are formed at ridge side parts between the upper surface 28 and the side surface (flank relief) 30, and as for the main cutting edges 44, a part between ridge side portions A and B is made to be first cutting edge 44a, and a part between B and C is made to be a second cutting edge 44b.
