To provide a positive type imaging material which is excellent in development latitude during imaging and in scratch resistance, and to provide a positive type lithographic printing original plate which has a recording layer having such chracteristics as the material, is used in direct platemaking and used with an infrared laser.
The positive type imaging material for a heat mode contains: (a) a polymeric compound insoluble in water but soluble in an alcaline aqueous solution; (b) a photothermal conversion agent; and (c) a compound having a partial structure expressed by -N=N-. The material increases in solubility in an alcaline aqueous solution by heating. Additionally, the lithographic printing original plate has a recording layer formed from the positive type imaging material.
