PURPOSE: To obtain high precision and correct retaining of a band saw by supplying liquid with identical pressure to respective faces where a butt is opposed to the side face of the band saw and by stabilizing the band saw in the center of respective pairs of butts.
CONSTITUTION: Dovetail grooves 4a are provided on a pair of butts 4, 4, and a dovetail projection 5a is provided on a slide bed 5 and engaged with the groove and slidably guided in the direction of arrow mark H-H' vertical to a band saw 2. A feed screw 6 is screwed in against a repulsion spring 7 to adjust the clearance and secured by a setting bolt 8. A cavity 9 is provided respectively on each opposed face 4a of the butt 4 and the liquid with the identical pressure source is supplied from a through hole 10 and a pipe 11. The difference of clearance between faces 4a, 4a is balanced by the pressure of the liquid, and even if the band saw with a thin edge is driven at high speed, no generation of heat and wear occurs, and the position and the posture of the cutting portion of the band saw can be retained with high precision.
