PURPOSE: To obtain the subject compsn. useful as a transparent dye for aq. undercoating and cured at low temp. in the absence of a catalyst or in the presence of a small amt. of the catalyst by compounding a specific copolymer, aliphatic dibasic acid, etc., if necessary, pigment and other additives.
CONSTITUTION: The objective compsn. is obtained by compounding a glycidyl- containing copolymer (A) with a mol.wt. of 1,000-10,000 and a glass transition temp. of 30-90° consisting of 10 wt.% or more of glycidyl acrylate or glycidyl methacrylate (i), 5-50 wt.% of tertiary butyl acrylate or methacrylate (ii), 2-60 wt.% of one or many alkyl esters aliphatically unsaturated monocarboxylic or dicarboxylic acids (iii) and 0-50 wt.% olefinically unsaturated one or many other monomers, aliphatic or alicyclic dibasic acid, its anhydride or the polyol modified anhydride of the dilasic acid and, if necessary, pigment and additives (D).
