Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a powder detergent compsn. which does not cause the overflow of bubbles in a drum cleaning machine and imparts an improved whiteness to the laundry by compounding a nonionic surfactant, an inorg. silica compd. having a specified oil absorption, a low-molecular polycarboxylic acid or its salt, and a fluorescent brightener. SOLUTION: This compsn. contains 1-20 wt.% nonionic surfactant of formula I [R1 is a 10-20C alkyl or alkenyl group; R2 is an ethylene oxide unit; R3 is a propylene oxide unit ; n is 5-20; and m is 0-5], 0.5-9 wt.% compd. (e.g. amorphous silica) contg. at least 30 wt.% silicon (as SiO2 ) and having an oil absorption of at least 80 ml/100 g, 5-19 wt.% at least one 8C or lower organic acid (e.g. tartaric or citric acid) or its salt, and 0.01-2 wt.% fluorescent brightener (pref. a compd. of formula II).
