Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve riding comfort at a low speed and running stability at a high speed by connecting a stabilizer bar to an automobile body in such a way as to be vertically movable within a limited range via a rubber bush of weak rigidity, and controlling the vertical motion of the stabilizer bar via a vertical motion fixing unit. CONSTITUTION:A stabilizer bar 1 is connected to an automobile body 3 via a connection member 2 comprising a rubber bush 2a with a hollow part 4 on the upper and lower parts thereof and vertically movable within a limited range. Furthermore, a vertical motion fixing unit 5 is provided so that the releasing of the unit 5 will permit the vertical motion of the stabilizer bar 1 and the locking thereof will stop said vertical motion. According to the aforesaid constitution, a spring constant is made small by releasing the vertical motion fixing unit 5 at slow speed running, thereby improving riding comfort, while the spring constant is made large by locking the unit 5, thereby enhancing running stability.
