To provide a power-assisted bicycle providing aerobic exercise by a small, lightweight and simple mechanism.
The power-assisted bicycle 1 includes leg power detecting means 99 and 126 detecting leg power, a driving unit 13, a force combining mechanism for transmitting rotational torque of a speed reducing part to a drive shaft, and a heart rate detecting sensor 254. The driving unit 13 is provided with an electric motor 37 and the speed reducing part 35 having an electromagnetic clutch 250. In a mode providing aerobic exercise, the driving unit 13 drives the electric motor 37 in an engaged state of the electromagnetic clutch 250 and it assists leg power by electromotive power when the detected leg power is larger than a leg power level providing aerobic exercise. When the detected leg power is lower than the leg power level, the electric motor 37 is turned off in the engaged state of the electromagnetic clutch 250 and a load is applied to the leg power by rotational resistance of the motor. The leg power level is adjusted in response to a detected heart rate of a driver.
