To suppress deterioration of the performance of a capacitor installed in a hybrid construction machine.
In a state of regeneration, a power control section 78 preferentially charges the capacitor 64 with regeneration power by a generator 65 and charges a battery 63 with the excess portion of the regenerative power, while controlling the charge power for the capacitor 64, so that the inter-terminal voltage of the capacitor 64 does not exceed the preset ceiling value of Vup1; whereas in a state of power operation, the power control section 78 makes the capacitor 64 preferentially supply power to the generator 65 and makes the battery 63 compensate for portion of power that has not been wholly supplied by the capacitor, while controls discharge power from the capacitor 64, so that the inter-terminal voltage of the capacitor 64 will not become lower than the preset lower limit value of Vun1, Vun2, or Vun3.
