To suppress insulation deterioration caused between turns of a motor winding owing to a surge voltage generated in an inverter-driven motor.
To suppress the above insulation, the present invention determines the optimal rise time for controlling partial discharge occurring between turns of a winding of a motor driven by an inverter, from a relationship between a rise time of a surge voltage and a surge voltage resistance. The optimal reactor capacity is determined from a relationship between the rise time of the surge voltage and inductance of an inserted reactor. A reactor having the optimal capacity is provided between the inverter and the motor winding. The reactor may simply be a reactor around which a wire is wound, an air-core reactor, or the like.
