Abstract:
To downsize a power conversion apparatus not only in the sleeper direction or the height direction but also in the direction of travel, while protecting a condenser against flied material, because the limited vehicle space can be used effectively when a motor, a carriage, a brake, and an air-conditioning and power conversion apparatus are arranged in series for the direction of travel.SOLUTION: A power conversion apparatus 100 to be mounted on a vehicle comprises a power unit 110 having power modules 1u, 1v, 1w constituted of multiple semiconductor elements, a capacitor 120, a condenser 150 for cooling the power modules 1u, 1v, 1w, and a protective cover 160 covering the condenser 150. The protective cover 160 has a length, in the travel direction of vehicle, longer by a prescribed length from both ends of the condenser 150. The prescribed length is one half of the length equal to the velocity of the vehicle multiplied by 1 milli second.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
