To improve the efficiency in obtaining final AC power from a DC power supply in a power conversion apparatus in which an inverter converts a DC power into an AC power to supply the AC power to a load after boosting the DC voltage of the DC power supply.
The power conversion apparatus is provided with a DC power supply module 20 which is formed by connecting a bypass diode 2 in the forward polarity direction to the DC power supply 1 in series, and a step up circuit 3 which boats an output voltage Vs of the DC power supply and outputs the boosted voltage. An output terminal of the DC power supply module 20 and an output terminal of the step-up circuit are connected in parallel with each other and then connected to an input terminal of the inverter 5. Then, when the step-up circuit 3 is in non-operation, the bypass diode 2 allows the step-up circuit 3 to be bypassed for the output of the DC power supply module.
