To provide a bidirectional power converter of small, light weight, and low manufacturing cost which is directly connected to an AC grid by transformerless method for regenerative operation, a motor drive arrangement equipped with the power converter, a BTB system composed of the power converter, and a grid-connected inverter system.
A power converter 1 comprises a converter cell 20 composed of: a first AC-DC converter 11 for conversion between a single-phase AC and DC; a second AC-DC converter 12 which is connected to the DC side of the first AC-DC converter 11 for conversion between the single-phase AC and DC; a third AC-DC converter 13 for conversion between the single-phase AC and DC; and a high frequency transformer 14 connected between the AC side of the second AC-DC converter 12 and the AC side of the third AC-DC converter 13. If the power converter 1 is for AC input and AC output, it is connected to the DC side of the third AC-DC converter 13, a fourth AC-DC converter 14 equipped as well for conversion between the single-phase AC and DC is further provided.
