Abstract:

To provide an apparatus and a method, which are effective for simplification of a constitution for detecting the weight of an object to be driven by a motor.SOLUTION: A power converter 2 comprises: a test control part 113 that operates a motor in accordance with a predetermined test pattern including speed alteration; a limiter 115 that limits an increase in a command value of a driving force for being imparted to a driving object by the motor 3; and a weight estimation part 119 that estimates the weight of the driving object on the basis of the length of a period when the limiter 115 is operated in a period when the motor 3 is operated in accordance with the test pattern.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
