To provide a power extending device which can easily receive extended feed power from a power substation between adjacent power supply zones without the need for newly developing a facility for obtaining drive power corresponding ot AC power different in frequency, and its method.
The power extending device is arranged between a first power substation supplying the AC power of a first frequency of the power extending device to an overhead wire of a first feeder and a second power substation supplying the AC power of a second frequency different from the first frequency to an overhead wire of a second feeder, and includes a frequency converter arranged between the overhead wires of the first feeder and second feeder, converting the frequency of AC power from either the first frequency and second frequency to the other, and performing extended feed from either the first feeder and the second feeder to the other.
