To provide a power generating system equipped with a generator to which fuel gas is supplied via a gas meter loading a cutoff function and for preventing gas supply from being stopped by the cutoff function being operated during operation of the generator.

The power generating system includes the gas meter 2 having the cutoff function for cutting off the flow of gas when the fuel gas flows at a flow rate within a prescribed cutoff target range continuously over a prescribed monitor time, the generator 12 supplied with the fuel gas via the gas meter 2 for generating power at a rated output, an auxiliary heat source 31 for burning the fuel gas and generating power, and a control part 32 for controlling output of the auxiliary heat source 31 and the generator 12. When an independent operating state is continued, by having the control part 32 temporarily change output of at least one of the auxiliary heat source 31 and the generator 12 at least once within the monitor time, the flow rate of fuel gas passing through the gas meter 2 is temporarily changed to a flow rate not included in the cutoff target range.
