To provide a power generation device and a switch that easily and inexpensively discriminates a plurality of switch operations.
The power generation device includes: an operating member 12; a generator 13 for generating power via a driveshaft 41; a sliding member 15 movable in a first or second direction to drive the driveshaft 41; first and second resilient means 14A, 14B for accumulating resilient force as the sliding member 15 is moved; a pinwheel 16 for moving the sliding member 15 in the first or second direction; and third resilient means 17 connected to the pinwheel 16. An operation of the operating member 12 rotates the pinwheel 16 normally to move the sliding member 15 until it is decoupled from the pinwheel 16, when the resilient force of the second resilient means 14B moves the sliding member 15 in the first direction, and the third resilient means 17 moves the sliding member 15 to decouple it from the pinwheel 16, when the resilient force of the first resilient means 14A moves the sliding member 15 in the second direction, so that the driveshaft 41 is driven to generate power.
