To provide a power generation system that is capable of efficiently generating power as a whole even in the case where a drive input to a generator varies.
There is provided a power generation system in which a rotation shaft 12 of a permanent magnet synchronous generator 11 and a rotation shaft 14 of a winding synchronous generator 13 are coaxially connected. The permanent magnet synchronous generator 11 has a first armature 16 that is fixed and provided with a first armature winding 15 and a first rotor 17 that can rotate around the rotation shaft 12 in the first armature 16. The winding-type synchronous generator 13 has a second armature 19 that is fixed and provided with a second armature winding 18, a second rotor 20 that can rotate around the rotation shaft 14 in the second armature, and a field winding 21. Alternating current generated at the first armature winding 15 is converted into direct current by a converter and provided for the field winding 21.
