To provide a power reception device of a power transmission apparatus, having good power transmission performance by defining the characteristics and the configuration of coils in the power transmission apparatus.
The power transmission apparatus 100 has a power transmission coil 1 and a power reception coil 2 which are provided oppositely to each other, and transmits power from a power transmission unit 30 to a power reception unit 40. Of the opposite coils, one coil and the other coil are selected so that f1 (Hz) may be not less than 100 kHz, where Rw () is an effective serial resistance of a single unit of the one coil, Rs () is an effective serial resistance the other coil when the other coil opposite to the one coil is short-circuited and f1 (Hz) is the maximum frequency at which the one coil meets formula RsRw, and a frequency used to drive the one coil is set at a frequency less than f1 (Hz). Information is transmitted between a signal transmission circuit 30b and a signal transmission circuit 30c of the power transmission unit 30 and a signal transmission circuit 40b and a signal transmission circuit 40c of the power transmission unit 40.
