The power saving device for a printer includes: an application history storage part 313 in which history of application obtained by relating an operation signal based on user's operation to time information is recorded; a distribution analysis part 311 which analyzes distribution of frequency in use in accordance with the time information based on the recorded history of application; and a switch control part 340 which controls a switch group of a power source system concerning respective functions in accordance with a result of analysis by the distribution analysis part 311.
