Abstract:
PURPOSE:To reduce a circuit loss by connecting a rectifier through a capacitor as a current limiting element from an auxiliary power source circuit which includes the first and second capacitors charged by a high frequency voltage. CONSTITUTION:An output of a full-wave rectifier 2 is supplied through an auxiliary power source 4 to a transistor inverter 5 to fire a discharge lamp 6 or the like. The power source 4 is composed of a auxiliary power supplying capacitors 41, 42, isolating diodes 43, 44, and charging current limiting capacitor 47 as a current limiting element, the capacitors 41, 42 are charged by the primary winding voltage of a transformer 51 whenever the transistor 52 is turned OFF, they are then discharged through the diodes 43, 44 at every half cycle of the power source frequency to the inverter 5. Accordingly, the capacitors are used as the current limiting elements to reduce the loss, and the overvoltage applied to the diodes 43, 44 can be prevented.
