PURPOSE: To eliminate the necessity for providing a reduction gear of planet gear mechanism or the like by actuating a torque detecting potentiometer by a cable, driven by a handle, to detect steering torque and driving a motor by the detected torque so as to steer an outboard engine.
CONSTITUTION: A cable wire 60 is moved by rotating a handle 7. Then by moving reaction force of the cable wire, even a cable outer 59 is moved actuating through a transmission lever 62 a potentiometer 66 detecting steering torque. In accordance with the detected torque, an electric motor (m) is driven. By driving this electric motor (m), a worm wheel 57 is driven steering an outboard engine 11 through a steering arm 56. By this constitution, large reduction gear ratio is obtained enabling the necessity to be eliminated for providing a reduction gear by a planet gear mechanism further the straight advancing directivity to be improved.
