PURPOSE: To surely generate assisting power for steering, by providing a flow controller so that the flow rate of a by-pass which serves for the communication between a supply passage and a return passage which connect a constant-flow- rate liquid pressure source and a power unit to each other is controlled depending on the sideward acceleration.
CONSTITUTION: A supply passage 4a connected to a hydraulic pump 1a is ramified into a supply passage 4b and a by-pass 6a. The supply passage 4b is connected to a return passage 5 through a servo valve 19. The by-pass 6a is connected to the return passage 5 through a sideward acceleration sensor valve 7 and a by-pass 6b. The valve 7 is positioned horizontally and perpendicularly to the direction of movement of a vehicle. An orifice 11a is provided in the passage 11 of the casing 8 of the valve 7. A spool 9 is provided downstream to the orifice 11a so that the spool is moved rightward and leftward by the sideward acceleration. The edges 12a, 12b of the control part 9c of the spool 9 and the passage 11 constitute a variable restriction valve.
